This is not a drill, Lorde is back! After four years of anticipation our ear canals have been blessed by Lorde’s brand spanking new single, Solar Power. The New Zealand pop star also announced an album sharing the same name.
Unsurprisingly Lorde fans globally are freaking out, it’s hard not to. With the likes of Phoebe Bridgers and Clairo featuring on the track, we’re hoping to be invited to this exclusive club too. Co-produced with frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff, we’re expecting this to be our summer anthem.
“The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalising the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors. In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion. I look to the natural world for answers. I’ve learnt to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through...I want this album to be your summer companion, the one you pump on the drive to the beach. The one that lingers on your skin like a tan as the months get cooler again.”
If you haven’t seen the video, imagine this: Lorde dressed in yellow prancing around a beach, at one with nature. A far throw from Lorde’s earlier moodier aesthetic. The song itself is the definition of summer vibes. If this is anything to go by, we’re about to see a completely different era of Lorde.
The yellow outfit in question sold out very quickly after Lorde’s appearance, however, it is now back in stock! The co-ord from Collina Strada is on a pre-order basis at the moment and you’re looking at 3-4 weeks shipping. At $340 for the skirt and $275 for the shirt, it isn’t cheap. Better get saving those pennies or treat yourself here:
We’ve been waiting patiently for four years for a new Lorde release. There have been a few setbacks including Covid-19 and the death of her beloved dog. In the meantime she has travelled to Antartica, which is responsible for a lot of the inspiration behind her third album. Details about the new album have been scarce, but that’s not stopping anyone from hanging off the edge of their seats in eagerness.
